We know how hard it is to get your first birth under your belt. How challenging it can be to create marketing material that shows your dedication and commitment to birth photography. Birth is such an intimate and private space, it can feel tricky to find a family that is willing to allow you to ‘shadow’ a professional.

So we are curating a low-stress and safe learning environment for you to create awe-inspiring ‘birth’ images. Images that you can use to market, create your website and begin sharing on social media with confidence.

Together, Beka, Kelly, and Lindsey will guide you through three different scenes with three different model groups. We will be available to answer questions about creating compelling compositions, working through challenging lighting situations, and mastering the perfect exposure.

We wholeheartedly believe in community over competition and we want to help you jumpstart your birth photography career. So join us for a day of creating birth art!

Edit with us!

Join us for a virtual recorded Editing Course. Watch as we import, cull and edit. Send one raw image the night before and ask specific questions you have been feeling challenged with. There is no ‘one right way’ to do things in Lightroom, but we can show you how we do it so you can move forward finessing your own style and workflow. Reminder - this call will be recorded - so you can always reference back to it.

Are you a Doula?

Get photos of you ‘working’

Are you a doula with no interest in becoming a Birth Photographer, but TONS of interest in getting images of you ‘at work’? Come to the Mock Birth on April 30th and give hip squeezes, hold space, work your doula magic in our curated ‘birth scenes’. Beka, Kelly and Lindsey will document you at work as well as provide you with some new headshots … all material you can add to your marketing, website and socials.

Is this event for me?

Are you a Photographer?

If so, then YES! Whether you are brand new to photography AND birth, or if you are just new to birth - this event is for you. It is geared toward those that have shot less than 20 births. We do prefer that you have a basic understanding of how your camera works and standard camera terminology, but we will be discussing and are happy to troubleshoot camera settings that are unique to the birth space.

YOU WILL WALK AWAY WITH
- a gallery comprised of three different birth scenes and models that can now be used for all of your website design, marketing and social media
- a minimum of 3 high resolution images of YOU working - photographing a birth - taken by the hosts (Beka, Kelly, and Lindsey)
- a rockin’ new community and sense of confidence as you enter the birth photography world.

Are you a Doula?

If so, then YES! Pop-In and get a few images of yourself “working” in a birth space. As doulas, we work SO hard and so much of our work is done in the dark (literally and figuratively), without witness. To have an image of yourself fully immersed in the doula aspect of your job, is an image that holds tons of value. Yes, we are ‘staging’ you working, but channeling the real doula energy isn’t hard. Pop in for about an hour and visit each scene - allowing us to document you while you show us your strong hip squeeze, gentle caring touch, and to just hold space for our pregnant models!

YOU WILL WALK AWAY WITH
- a minimum of 10 high resolution images taken by professional photographers of you ‘working’ as a doula
- a minimum of 5 high resolution head shots
- print and media release to use those images as desired in your marketing and website

FAQs

We will have at least one midwife present, possibly two depending on the real births! They will bring all the birthy props. Doulas will also be present offering support and hip squeezes. We will stage the home as you would in preparation for a home birth.
YES! All models will have signed a full model release allowing you to use any image created for your website, marketing and social media purposes. You are not required to send galleries to the models either. We have already compensated them for their time.
Oh yeah! We will have heavy snacks available throughout the day. We have a tight schedule with tons of awesomeness to share, so we won’t have an official lunch break, but we promise you won’t go hungry!
For the Mock Birth - we will offer you a refund minus the $275 retainer fee. If you are able to find another person to take your place, we will offer a full refund once the replacement has paid in full.
For the Editing Class - there will not be a refund as the call is recorded and will be sent to you. We can be available to answer any questions after you watch the recording.
For Doulas - we will offer you a refund minus the retainer fee of $150. If you are able to find another doula to take your place, we will offer a full refund once the replacement has paid in full.
NOTE: Clearly we are sensitive to the nature of being on-call. However, because space is limited and there are a lot of moving pieces, that is why we have to have this policy in place.
Sorry friends - we are SO baby friendly, but the only baby welcome at this working event is the baby model!
Your self! Your gear (camera body, lens(es), flash, batteries, cards, etc.). No need to bring a laptop. All instructional material will be provided digitally so that you can always reference it. So you may want to bring a notepad and pen. We will have food and non-alcoholic beverages (see above) but if you have specific items you want, you are welcome to bring them.
The Mock Birth will take place at Lindsey’s personal home in Arvada, CO. The specific address will be provided after the retainer fee has been made.
Please note, Lindsey’s home is cat friendly, just in case there are allergies.
