Looking Back on 2025

Here we are, already in February, and while the world flips the calendar and calls it a "new year," we all know real reflection doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, quiet moments, and actual space to look back meaningfully on the last year we just lived. So here I am, settling into the new year with gratitude and intention, finally letting myself feel all that 2025 held. This year was rich with story, strength, transformation, and abundance!

This year, I had the honor of supporting 25 births, each one entirely unique. Of those babies, 17 were girls, 8 were boys, and 12 of those births were surprise genders, which always brings up some extra joy as we all feel that excitement and anticipation!

I had the honor of supporting 5 repeat families and 4 three-peat families. Those births felt more like family reunions, from prenatal visits filled with toddlers I once photographed as newborns to the sacred moments of watching these mamas tap into their strength and transformation once again. The kind of trust that builds over time, being invited back into these intimate spaces again and again, is hard to put into words. It’s the truest honor I know.

And with all of these beautiful stories, I quietly crossed a milestone of 225 births supported over the past nine years as a self-employed artist, doula, teacher, mentor, and witness. It still takes my breath away. It’s never been about the numbers, but when I look back and feel the weight of this work, I can’t help but feel deeply proud.

I’m sharing a small glimpse of the images that stood out to me from sessions and births in 2025. I don’t play favorites, and many stories are held privately, but I love watching my artistry evolve and the way each family’s story continues to unfold through my lens so here is just a sampling of this past year…

Creativity and Community.

2025 wasn’t only about birth, it was also about connection, creativity, and growth.

I co-hosted the Savannah Refresh Retreat and the Water Workshop alongside my dear friend Lauren Wright. Both events reminded me how healing it is to gather, breathe, and how much I love to teach and mentor others on their journey.

I also co-hosted two beautiful Mock Birth workshops with Beka (Manawa Birth) and Kelly (My Doula Kelly) here in Denver. These workshops hold space for new and aspiring birth photographers to enter into the field with confidence and community. They have been so successful that registration for the next workshop (our fifth one!) in April 2026 is already open.

Then, there was the absolute gift of being invited to photograph a yoga retreat in Greece with Yoga For the Times. This was one of those experiences that reshapes your heart and the way you continue to move through life. I am forever grateful to Alli and Kali for trusting me to document and witness their sacred event.

Finally, I also got be a Co-Instructor for Birth Becomes You’s new doula course, walking alongside new doulas as they prepare to step into this work with open hearts.

This work continues to shape me, but so does the life I return to after each birth. I’m in the thick of raising two preteens, and we’re navigating that wild and wonderful stage together. There’s laughter, eye rolls, softness, and so much growth, for all of us.

Balancing birth work with motherhood has never been perfect, but I’ve learned to hold the chaos and the quiet with equal care. To find presence where I can. To rest when I need to. And to trust that the right families will always find me when the timing is aligned. As I move toward 2026, I’m carrying a full heart. Thank you to every family who welcomed me in, every baby I witnessed come earthside, and every story I was lucky enough to help hold.

I’ll keep showing up for this work, as a doula, a photographer, and a witness to the beauty that unfolds when love leads the way.
